Dear Members of the BFA Community,

As you are likely aware, our school is coping with the unexpected loss of one of our students.  Many students and staff are experiencing a profound sense of grief.  Our counselors are available along with colleagues from Northwestern Counseling and Support Services to provide help during this very challenging time. If your child or family is struggling in any way, our counselors can be reached at 802-527-6571. NCSS can be reached at 802-524-6554.

We have linked two articles about grieving that should be useful to you when talking with your children who may be experiencing difficulty. The MADD article focuses on dealing with grief from the perspective of a teenager and provides insights for families supporting young people who have experienced a sudden loss.  The document from the Austin Center for Grief and Loss lists general suggestions for speaking with students of all ages regarding the grieving process.  I want to thank our friends at SATEC for sharing this information.

Your continued attention and support guiding your children through this time is deeply appreciated. Do not hesitate to call us at 802-527-6400 for any assistance.

Sincerely,

Chris Mosca
Principal
