The After School Program will start Tuesday, September 3rd and follow the school schedule.
Where: Students will meet in the Library every day except for Tuesday (staff meeting). On Tuesday we will meet in a different space. We will put a sign on the library door so you will know where we are.
Dismissal: Students will be signed out each night from the school Library. Your student can only be picked up by an individual authorized in advance on your Fairfield Center School Emergency Form. We can not dismiss your student to adults who are not on your authorized list. You may add a person at any time with a note. Anyone we do not know must come with photo identification or the child will not be released. We can escort children to the BNML on days it is open if parents request this in writing.
Change in Plans: If you have a change in plans you must send a note. Students who do not have a signed note deviating from their original schedule will not be permitted to change their plans.
Monthly/Weekly Sign-up: Each student will be given a slot. Each slot ensures we have enough staff for that day. When you sign up for a slot (week or month prior), it becomes your responsibility to cover the cost of that slot at the beginning of that week. Payments are non-refundable, as we have to schedule and pay staff to be on duty based on your commitment.
Fees and Payment
Daily Fees: Full time students, Monday-Friday will be required to pay $50 per week per student. Flex students will be required to pay $5 per hour per student. You will receive an email confirmation of the balance due after you sign up (prior to week beginning).
Payment: Payment is required at the beginning of each week, or your student’s first day of attendance for that week. Payment should include the full dollar amount for that week. For set schedules and easier tracking you may pay ahead for the month. Please make out checks to Fairfield Center School with the memo After School Program.
Late Pick-Up: Students must be picked up no later than 5:15pm. Please be on time. Please call staff to let them know if you are going to be late, so they can make arrangements to stay late. Please know that this is a hardship for our staff. If you are late you will be responsible for payment of staff. Payment due will be $10 for every part of 15 minutes late. Example: a parent is three minutes late, the fee is $10. If a parent is 20 minutes late, the fee is $20. Parents who arrive late more than twice in a school year will not be permitted to participate in the After School Program for the remainder of the school year.
If your child is not picked up by 5:45, and we have not been able to make contact with you or an emergency contact to come pick up your child, we have no choice but to call the Vermont State Police to report your child abandoned. It is crucial that the school have accurate contact information for you and your emergency contacts. Likewise, it is imperative that you coordinate pick-up plans carefully with your family. Calling the State Police is a traumatic event for all involved and we never wish to do this.
Safety and Discipline
The After School Program was designed to help students have a safe, social, and educational place to go after school. The rules of the After School Program will follow the school handbook. Consequences for non-compliance, however, are more strict since we do not have a behavior specialist on duty after school. Each student must follow ALL school and adult rules and instructions. We will go over expectations with students. Students who do not comply with our after school rules will not longer be permitted to attend this program.
Termination of Program
If at any time the After School Program no longer generates the funding required to pay for staff and materials, the program will be terminated immediately. Please note that this is a non-profit program. All funds generated are used for salaries and materials.
