Digital Video Production

Digital Video Production focuses on communications in a digital world, with an emphasis on art and design. Effective communication includes pictures (moving and still), the spoken word, music, graphics, and text. Combining these elements convincingly and incorporating transitions, volume, timing, and tempo adds new dimensions to the art of communication. Digital Video Production provides training in pre-production, production, and post production. Students will learn about planning, camera operation, sound, lighting, directing, on-camera presence, editing, and script writing. Students in Digital Video Production will learn how to communicate their messages by creating products in different genres of video.

Digital Video Production I

This class is open to all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who have demonstrated success in the following three areas:
  • Attendance
  • Attitude and Behavior
  • Advancement toward proficiency in English Language Literature

Digital Video Production II & III

This class is open to all 11th and 12th grade students who have participated in and met Digital Video Production I proficiencies.

  • Science (.5 credit per year)


  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10-hr OSHA 10

Dual Enrollment:

  • Intro to Film (Community College of Vermont: 3 credits)

In this class students will learn the fundamental skills and understandings to be successful in both programs. Students will use cutting edge equipment and facilities to create digital content for print media, the web, and silver screen. Students will leave with a mini-portfolio containing evidence of their success in graphic design, digital photography, and digital video.

 Learn how to create short digital videos and make them go viral on the web.
