Graduation - June 9 - June 13th

As stated in last week’s update, this year’s commencement will be a 2-part graduation.  It is highly recommended that you watch the YouTube event on Thursday, June 4th at 6 p.m.  This will be your graduation rehearsal.

On June 9th - 11th you will arrive at the Collins Perley Complex at your assigned time slot.  Refer to your time at the end of this document.

You will arrive in your cap and gown, and walk-in alphabetical order.  We suggest that you ride to the Complex in the same car as your family. You are limited to four family members to join you for the ceremony.  Upon your arrival at the Complex, you will be directed where to park.  Please stay in your vehicles until you hear your name announced over the public address system.  When called, staff will assist you in lining up outside of the Southside of the Complex.  You and your four family members will walk through the ice rink and tennis court, up to the graduation stage.  You will walk across the stage and receive your diploma.  Once off the stage, you will have an opportunity for a professional photo with Whipple Photography.  Your family is welcome to take photos while you are on stage.  BFA will be purchasing one professional photo for each senior.  Once your photo is taken, you will be ushered out the Northside of the Complex and will return to your vehicles.  This whole process will be filmed.  All of the graduation speeches will also be pre-recorded.  These recordings along with musical pieces will be pulled together as a production for you all to watch from your homes on Saturday, June 13th at 11 a.m.  This will be aired on Northwest Access Broadcast Comcast Channel 1079 and YouTube as well.  This production will be made available to all seniors in a media file.

If you have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to contact Theresa Callan (527-6400 or tcallan@maplerun.org).

LOCKERS: All BFA student lockers have been emptied. Shelves of any kind have been left (in addition to some accessories) for use next year. Please understand that as a locker was emptied there were some items that needed to be discarded. Items were placed into bags and labelled by locker number. They were then sorted and repackaged adding the name of the student assigned that locker. This would mean that if you were using a locker that was not assigned to you some of your belongings may not be in a bag with your name. That is something you will have to arrange outside of school, connecting with whomever you were sharing locker space. It has always been made clear that each student has their own locker and they are not to share lockers.

For the last month students have been scheduling times to pick up their locker items and that process has slowed down considerably. Beginning Tuesday, June 9th, you can email pgoldsbury@maplerun.org or jturner@maplerun.org to set a time to pick up. Everything is now bagged, and in the South Building Main Office lobby, so you only need to buzz at the door and identify yourself when asked over the speaker. We will locate your locker bag and hand it to you. Again, you will need to email ahead to be sure someone is in the office at that time.

If you have only binders and do not want to bring them home, only to have to bring them back in the fall, we can keep them here. We will put the items back into your locker at the end of July. You do not have to contact us; we will do this to any items left here once the lockers have been cleaned this summer.

Your patience during this has been greatly appreciated. Please know that we did our best to save what we could and took care with photos that were on the inside of the lockers. It was a strange end to our 2019-2020 school year. We hope that you are able to enjoy the summer and will continue to engage in learning. There is a lot happening in the world and that is a great place in which to begin. Stay informed and stay safe.
