The next session of Proficiency Recovery begins on Monday, October 26^th. Check your “List View” Schedule in PowerSchool for location. If you have a question check with your advisor.

Freshman Chromebook switch will occur during Enrichment Oct 26-30. You will receive a calendar invite from IT for your specific time slot. Bring your Chromebook, Power Adapter, and bag on your scheduled day.

The Abbey now has limited à la carte items available at breakfast and lunch. These items will be priced in whole dollar amounts ranging from $1-$3 and only exact change will be accepted for these items.

BFA SPIRIT WEEK (OCT. 26-30):

ATTENTION BFA STUDENTS: As part of Spirit Week, Student Council and Interact are running a class cereal drive competition! Bring boxes of cereal with you to school and place them in the bins at your designated entrance. Student Council members will be there to ask you your class to add to the weekly tally. The winning class will receive Spirit Week points toward the overall total!

Parent Teacher VIRTUAL Conferences will be held on:

· Monday 11/2/2020 from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM

· Wednesday 11/4/2020 from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM

· Thursday 11/5/2020 from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Teachers have also adjusted their schedule, so these are the main times set.

Please give teachers at least one hour to receive the Google meet link if scheduling close to meeting time. You will need a valid email address to set these up.

REMINDER: Students who have not yet picked up locker items from last spring will need to do so no later than Friday, October 30^th. Any items left at that time will be discarded. BFA STUDENTS: GIVE A PINT AND GET A SLICE – BFA Interact is hosting a blood drive at City Hall on October 28^th. BFA has been a big part of a county-wide effort to help with depleting blood supplies. Students that donate will be given a voucher for a slice of pizza at Mimmo’s at their appointment. Masks and appointments are required. Join VSAC for this year’s Vermont Career Connect on Wednesday, October 28^th from 10:00-Noon via Zoom. The Career Connect will be a time for students to learn about educational and career opportunities available to them right now in their communities. They will also get a chance to hear directly from some of their community members with similar backgrounds about how they followed their passions and found success.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: The Friends for A Dog Foundation is a non-profit arts and education program that honors the life and spirit of Andy (A Dog) Williams, a BFA graduate. The Foundation is excited to announce a new music education scholarship for students. Selected students will receive free music lessons and a musical instrument over the course of several years. Instruction will be provided by professionals. The first round of the application process ends soon, so click here for more information, or contact Mr. Bushey or Mr. Rider.

BFA GSA - What is a GSA? GSA stands for Gay Straight Alliance for LGBTQ+ students and their allies in creating positive changes and a culture of support within their school communities.

Please join us alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Cafeteria from 3-4pm. You CAN still attend in person if it’s your remote day. ALL are welcome!!

Chromebook Care and Home Use guidelines for Families:

Use the device only on flat work surfaces like a kitchen table or desk, and never on the student’s lap, the floor, or while laying down on a bed or sofa to prevent accidental damage.
Have students use the device in public spaces in the home, and never in the student’s bedroom with the door closed. This helps establish that parents can more easily monitor usage.
Never have food or drinks near the device to avoid catastrophic liquid spill damage.
Never place a device on a flat horizontal surface where people sit or stand like the floor or a chair to prevent accidental damage.
Never carry a Chromebook or laptop by the screen, this can cause irreparable damage.
Charge the device while it rests on a table or other safe flat surface, but not in its carrying case. Many carrying cases have padding for protection, but this acts like a blanket and can cause devices to overheat while charging.

COLLEGE & SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:

University of Vermont - Virtual Open House: Due to COVID-19, we have reimagined our Open House events for the fall to a virtual format. Please save the date of November 9, as each event will include a UVM overview, academic offerings, and a student panel. Just as a reminder, UVM waives the $55 application fee for Vermont students if they apply Early Action, which has an 11/1 deadline.

BFA is hosting a virtual visit with Lincoln Tech on Wednesday, November 4^th at 11:00 a.m.
