Academic Skills Center

The Academic Skills Center is available to all students at the Northwest Technical Center. Students are welcome to seek information, utilize computers, have a quiet space to work, and receive academic help and support.

The instructors provide academic help, guidance, counseling, employability skills training, and consumer instruction/information. The instructors conduct assessments for all Northwest Technical Center students. These assessments include the Accuplacer, The Test of Adult Basic Education and other state assessments as required. Special emphasis is placed on helping students develop skills in communication, problem solving, work ethic, and team building.

The ASC is staffed by a certified special needs teacher. The teacher also monitors and supports all Special Education and Section 504 students. Special materials and services include audio-visual aids, computers and lab exploration.
