Celebrating I Love to Read Week Across Maple Run Schools!
This week, March 9–13, Maple Run Schools are celebrating I Love to Read Week with a full week of fun and engaging activities designed to spark a lifelong love of reading! Students across the district are participating in DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) events, partner reading, guest reader visits, bookmark-making, dressing up as favorite book characters or authors, and so much more. Some schools are holding book scavenger hunts, reading challenges, and author-inspired craft projects. Each activity is designed to make reading exciting, social, and meaningful.
A very special thank you goes to the Saint Albans Rotary Club for organizing guest readers to visit classrooms this week. These wonderful community members, representing a variety of careers and backgrounds, are taking time out of their busy lives to share stories with students. By reading aloud, they show our students that reading is valuable for everyone, at any age, and in any profession, whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, or something in between. Their efforts are helping spread the joy and importance of reading throughout our schools.
Reading matters because it opens doors to new ideas, builds empathy, strengthens communication skills, and fuels imagination. It empowers students to explore the world, learn about themselves, and connect with others. Every page turned is a step toward curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning. At Maple Run, we celebrate reading not just for fun, but as a cornerstone of growth, learning, and community.
Let’s keep turning pages, exploring stories, and sharing our love of reading, this week and every week!
